‘Advocating for the public interest in a hostile climate’: Register now for our 14th EU Advocacy Academy!

Dark clouds are gathering above the heads of public interest organisations. Polarisation, regressive policies, delegitimisation of their voice in political discourse, funding cuts and restrictions… Our next EU Advocacy Academy will seek to help advocates face this hostile context while unpacking the essentials of EU decision-making and influencing.

We’re excited to welcome fundraising expert Katarina Bartovicova and Diego Naranjo, advocate for fundamental rights online, as trainers for this edition. They will join the core trainers team from EUChanger & Better Europe to share their decades-long experience and insights on how organisations can become more impactful and resilient in the current EU context.

The EU Advocacy Academy is a hands-on interactive training for public interest advocates delivered by experienced practitioners and drawing in insiders from the EU institutions. Register now to secure your spot in Brussels on 26 and 27 November! Download the programme with the trainers’ bio and find out more on pricing & registration here.

Coaching the German network for human rights in Mexico

From May to July we delivered one-on-one coaching sessions for staff of the German Coordination for Human Rights in Mexico to help them to develop their EU advocacy strategy and use essential online EU advocacy tools. The network brings together German civil-society organisations and their partners in Mexico. Read the recommendations to the EU and the German and Mexican governments put forward by the network in its factsheet on enforced disappearances in Mexico published to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance on August 30.

People First! Unpacking the EU advocacy toolbox for Russian activists

During the Summer we held a series of interactive online sessions to train Russian anti-war and pro-democracy activists of the Platforma International in using our EU Advocacy Toolbox and to help them develop their advocacy strategy towards the EU institutions and European countries. Their People First! campaign seeks to put the fate of civilian captives, political prisoners, prisoners of war and forcibly transferred children at the heart of international negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the international community.

The role of the EU in a shifting global order

At the end of June, the Heinrich Böll Foundation brought together experts from around the world to discuss the role of the EU in the midst of a shifting global order. On the first day of their stay in Brussels, EUChanger facilitated a workshop that gave the group space to exchange ideas and gain practical insights into how the EU works, preparing them for their meetings with EU decision-makers and influencers during the rest of the week.
