Register now for our first EU Fundraising Academy!
EUChanger supports organisations working for a more inclusive, equal, and sustainable Europe. Reliable and diverse sources of funding are essential to allow these organisations to thrive. Securing funding is more challenging than ever in a volatile context where civil society is under pressure.
Titled ‘Fundraising in a time of disruption’,our first EU Fundraising Academy, will take place in Brussels on 12 June. This one-day hands-on training offers a practical exploration of how advocacy organisations can adapt their fundraising approaches to current realities.
The training will explore key trends shaping the European and global funding landscape, examine risks and opportunities across different types of donors and funders, and present strategic approaches to securing and sustaining resources without compromising on mission or values.

Holding EU decision-makers accountable: EU Advocacy Academy on 26-27 May
Are European policymakers serving people — or just politics? Right-wing and far-right parties are increasingly threatening the EU’s democratic values across Europe. In these times of growing tension between the public interest and populism, public interest advocates are needed more than ever to hold decision-makers accountable and keep EU policies grounded in democratic values.
Our next EU Advocacy Academy is titled ‘Public interest vs populism: holding EU decision-makers accountable’. It aims to help advocates understand the current political context marked by the growing influence of regressive populist forces and to navigate the EU institutions and decision-making processes. The EU Advocacy Academy takes place in Brussels on 26-27 May. This two-day hands-on and interactive training is delivered by experienced practitioners and draws in insiders working in the EU institutions.

Bursting the EU bubble: EU Academy Ireland and Baltics
The first edition of the EU Academy outside of Brussels took place in Dublin in January. Thirty public interest advocates from a wide range of Irish civil society organisations came together to build knowledge, share strategies and strengthen engagement with EU decision-making. The EU Academy Ireland took place at a particularly important moment for Irish civil society as Ireland prepares for its Presidency of the Council that will run from July to December of this year.
Thanks to Opportunity Green and the Irish Environmental Network for their leadership and for organising the training, and to The Wheel and Community Foundation Ireland for their support.
The EU Academy Ireland in Dublin: session with Irish EU insiders
The EU Academy is coming to Riga on 7-8 May. Public interest advocates from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania will deepen their understanding of EU decision-making processes, strengthen their advocacy skills, and build alliances to defend the public interest at both national and EU level.
This EU Academy is organised in collaboration with the Estonian Green Movement (CEE Bankwatch member), Green Liberty (CEE Bankwatch member), Open Foundation Lithuania and the National Coalition of NGOs in Lithuania with the support of CEE Bankwatch Network and Civic Alliance–Latvia . You can find more information and access the programme here.

From Stockholm to Brussels: communications for nature
Campaign, communications, press and digital team members from the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation visited Brussels last month with the aim of getting more active in EU level communications. It was our pleasure to organise a one-day training as part of their trip.
We looked at the realities and opportunities of communicating about EU decision-making on the national level. The programme included the latest trends, key moments for communicating, and case studies of what (still) works in the 2026 context. The team went back to Stockholm full of ideas for new ways of communicating for Swedish nature and climate as part of a united, sustainable Europe.

Now she works for the leading Brussels digital rights advocacy group, the European Digital Rights (EDRi) network. In 2009, she co-founded the Slovak Fundraising Centre of which she is still deputy chair.
Meet EU change-makers: Theresa Bonnici, Eurogroup for Animals
During the second edition of our EU Communications Academy in February, we met Theresa Bonnici, Press Officer at Eurogroup for Animals. Theresa views communication as inseparable from advocacy. “Tell stories people can connect with. Move away from technical jargon and instead create content that feels relevant and accessible”, was her advice”. Read our interview with Theresa here.
